Today in human geo we watched another video. It was Hans Rosling he teaches global health. He made of graph. The X axis was life span and the Y axis was income. He showed the world separated by color dots. Europe was brown. Asia was red. Middle East was green. Sub-Saharan was blue. Americas was yellow. The graph started in year 1810. In 1810 all people were sick and poor and the life expectancy were 40 years old except for U.K. and Netherlands. As the years went on the life expectancy got higher and people got more money.
Today in human geo we watched a ted talks youtube video. I learned that Nigeria is increasing. Russia is decreasing in population. Japan has the longest life expectancy. We talked about demographic transition, post-industrial, industrial, post-industrial. Life expectancy goes up up when it is industrial because they have have more money to take care of themselves. The rural vs urban living changed durning industrialization.
Today in human geo we got our test backs. I got a 75% I was disappointed because I really thought I did better. We had a pretty simple day today. We then went around the room and went over the test. We each answered the questions on the tests. We ended a little early and we had a little bit of free time.

Kiva.org extra credit

When you first go onto kiva.org it shows how you can donate and find who you want to donate to. You can search a country and people who need loans come up. When you look at people it shows a picture and says a description of what they need, it could be anything from education to needing to buy a cow. So, you can read there story and then donate 25 dollars or more. The least you can donate  is 25 dollars. It shows how much time you have left to donate and how much they need and how much more money the person needs. On this website the money you give is a loan so you will get your 25 dollars or how ever much you donated back. They have a 97.1% loan repayment rate. They have 4 stars on the charity navigator. 1.7million people have made loans through kiva. One person I found is name is Ahmed he is from Palestine. He needs 1,500 dollars to pay for tuitions to study law. Another person I found is Lila she is from the Philippines and she needs $325 dollars to buy feeds, vitamins and other sup
Today in human Geo we went over a project we can do for extra credit. The extra credit is optional. I am pretty sure I am going to do it. I could use it. Basically we are going on kiva.org and it is a site that we can go on and make a loan of at least $25 to help people with different situations. It could be education, farming, and animals, etc. So for the extra credit we write an essay for 5points and we donate for another 5 points.
Today in human geo was funny and we did not really do much. I presented my project yesterday with Quin and Evelyn. Today more people went. They just had to read there slide about population prymaids and websites that are effective in stoping world hunger. I found out that my class is judgmental they pick out a lot when people are presenting haha. Anyways I enjoyed presenting and watching other people present. I liked this project.
Today in human Geo we presented our projects. Not everyone got to present today but my group did. Hopefully we got a good grade. We went for the A on the project. We had to ask and answer 4 questions. Identify two population prymaids. my group did Italy and Australia. Then we had to explain 4 websites to stop world hunger.
Today in human geo we didn't really do much because we had an evacuation drill. So we did that and then a very fun thing happen!!!!! We had a pop-quiz. So we had 10 seconds to answer each question. Mr.Schick read each question and answers off a powerpoint. We then went over the answers and i got a 14/20 sooo it was not the best.
Today in human geo we just looked over the population pyramids. We looked at different cities and identified why the population was like that. Later in the class we talked about population pyramids on countries and identified those. One interesting one was Japan had like 27 people over 100+ in age. We talked about how woman are more enrolled in college and a lot more men are in the military. We also talked about how in certain places in Florida it is all old people because that is where they go to retire.
Today in human geo at first we went back and looked at some slides we already have saw and we just quickly went over them and made sure we had all the notes we needed. Then, we got a little off topic and talked about Mr.Schicks career in making movies and we always talked about a band and it was really funny. Then we went back to a slide show. On this slide show we took notes. We took notes on the population pyramids. We use the population pyramids to analyze growth ( or decline ) of fertility, mortality and migration in cities. Woman live longer. There are three basic shapes.. the xmas tree which is a developing nation. The box which is a developed nation, slow growth. Lastly, the cup which is a developed nation, negative growth.
